that is a bummer on recall
I heard some Yamaha' were having OIL leakage / recall - i thought it was a different Bike
- i suppose it is better to have it changed out now, compared to OIL leak of course
FYI - i am 2nd owner, 2016 BOLT R-spec, bought w 8,000 miles, i have 14,000 after 2 seasons - no issues, have done some customizing .... LEAN INTO the Curve - have Fun "E"

Damn that sucks but at least you're getting it fixed for free.

Bought my 2015 used (2700 miles) in 2016, was fine for a while but then I had the same issue.  Luckily I got it fixed under the warranty.

OMG - mine is dry as a bone, but I'll take a new motor if available, especially since my local dealer would let me buy the old one back for cheapo - I think.
Cool.

Not heard about this before - do we know any more specifics? Where exactly on the crank case are the leaks taking place, which they are trying to alleviate?

I remember a few threads a number of years ago, both on here and over on the SCR forum, regarding what appeared to be oil weeping from the mating surfaces on the crankcase, apparently through the gaskets etc, when the bikes were warm - is it a similar issue they are trying to tackle now?

Cheers,
Ben

EDIT - ha, a bit of Googling, and I found the details myself:

Oh, I remember in the first few 100 miles mine also weeped a little at the mating face, time to go check it again. There never is any oil under it, nor was there anything getting splattered behind it, so it basically is a weep, if it even still exists.
Cool.

I'll post this up in the Tech Library - this could be dangerous!
Thanks for the Heads Up!
