Ivan’s vs Power commander V for decel pop
« on: July 24, 2021, 08:46:16 am »
I’m hoping to find someone that has experience with both options and can offer an opinion on which would do a better job at lessening decel pop. I have the Vance and Hines slip on and the Vo2 intake. Decel pop is horrendous and sometimes when shifting from first to second, if I get on the throttle during a pop it will cause the bike to stutter and intake burp. I’ve already read many threads and I have verified that with my setup, the bike is in fact running a lean 18.1:1 AFR at low rpm cruising speeds. I have been unable to find out if Ivan’s flash adds fuel to the low RPM range (around 3,00) but I do know he added fuel up top at WOT but that isn’t where I have issues. My previous bike was an R6 and the power commander I had on that bike made it run very rich so I’m hesitant to go with the power commander, but I’m also doubtful that Ivan’s will do much to correct low RPM decel popping

Just my opinion, and no doubt others here might disagree.  But the throttle grip only rotates less than 1/4 turn from fully closed to fully open, so it is easy to twerk it, unbeknownst, or if you are a deliberate throttle "blipper" (which is the same as twerking), adding fuel into a lean mixture and getting backfire.  So I would venture a guess that it is mostly your restless wrist that is to blame.  You might also want to check that you don't have extra play in the throttle grip.

The PC can only add more fuel based on percentage. In fuel cut mode, NO fuel is being delivered so you could set a PC to add 100% more fuel but any percentage of nothing is still nothiing. You have to disable the fuel cut in the ECU first. Ivan's flash also changes the fuel curves so fuel is added where needed.

PCV has limitations that ECU flashes do not. See below.

I have a VH VO2 intake and VH slip on. I also "had" a PCV and called and talked to PC and got the best possible map for my setup. The decel popping and less than stellar throttle smoothness never changed. Sold the PCV and got the Ivan's Flash. Runs perfectly and all issues are solved.

Agreed.

Awesome, sounds like the Flash will do much more to correct the decel popping

I will blip the throttle sometimes but even if I’m just letting the bike engine brake down with the throttle closed and on the brakes it will pop. I will also get pops in between shifts which is probably what I dislike the most
