C-Spec vs Base model gas tank
« on: December 06, 2020, 03:26:19 am »
Hey guys. I tried searching for the answer but couldnít find anything. I recently had a little mishap on a patch of ice and now I have a nice dent in the side of my tank. Iím going to buy a new tank but while Iím at it, I want the dark red tank from the 2015 base models. My question is, will the base model tanks fit on the C-Spec? Iíd imagine theyíre designed the same but I wanted to make sure before I fork out the cash. Thanks

you can look up parts numbers for US-based bikes here: https://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/5bc0bbf587a8661154279142/steering

Just put in your bike's year, then model designation, look up the part number for your bike.  Then see if another model or year bike has the same part number -- if they do, then you can use it without modification.

So I did do that. The part numbers are the same except for the last digit. It seems like the C specs and the Base models only have that one digit difference so I was hoping someone had done it before.

Base model: 1TP-W2410-01-X1
C-Spec:       1TP-W2410-01-X4

ask Yamaha dealer - hopefully / probably the last digit is different because the COLOR is different

I put a newer R-Spec seamless tank on my C-Spec. The only difference was a shorter bolt and plain washer is used to hold the rear brace instead of the long bolt and collar. The seamless tank has the collar as part of the tank and it's threaded for a short bolt. Old tank bolt looks like M6x30 and new bolt, M6x12.

Old tank parts, 90387-06177-00 (collar) and 95812-06030-00 (flange bolt). Current tank parts, 90201-06110-00 (plate washer) and 92012-06012-00 (button head bolt).

Thank you! The tank Iím buying is the same year as my Bolt so Iím hoping itís just a clean swap since the only difference is the color.
