what backpacks work best for attaching to the sissy bar

what backpacks are you guys and gals using to attach to the sissy bar. I want to be able to use it as a backpack but slide it down over the sissy bar when riding.

Go to walmart, go back to the motorcyle junk. There is a bag for 33ish bucks. Had it for a year and been awesome. Exactly what you are looking for. Fits my tall bar perfect.

I've got a big leather one that I got of eBay years ago - Leather, pretty good quality, and relatively cheap.
It drops down over the sissy bar, and has 2 straps to steady it (I wrap them around the passenger footpeg supports), It holds LOTS of luggage, and will expand another 4" deep if I want it... It has 4 pockets on the side for sundries, a barrel bag for the top, and straps to use it as a backpack.

Together with my saddlebags, I can EASILY carry groceries for a week - or camping gear for a week, and still have room left over.

really any backpack... just flip it on its side and use the shoulder straps as trolley straps, if its loose tighten it, and make sure all of the stuff is secure, maybe throw a cargo net on it but you're all set!

For a lighter day when I'm scooting around, I also find that skateboard backpacks are a solid alternative. They have the two straps already placed on the rear so you can easily slide on/off the sissy bar. Link is not to what I have, but something similar:

Someone recently on this forum asked me where I got the little tan backpack currently hanging on the sissy-bar of my bike, and I didn't remember (other than from China) as I bought it a couple of years before I bought my Bolt last year.

But recently I have seen the one I have, as well as a sister bag, still being advertised on various websites (Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, AliExpress, BangGood, eBay).  The backpack goes by various names (bug-out bag, tactical bag, shoulder bag, sports bag, etc.)  For those of you who may have a different (mostly minimal) need in backpacks for your bike, here are some pictures of what I have and some sources for it:

The bag is a 20-liter bag (about 5 gallons) and comes in two styles --
 
 - Style A: four zippered pockets, with three pockets having one or more internal pocket; and
 - Style B: three zippered pockets, with two pockets having one or more internal pockets.

Then there is a bunch of other ways to attach things to the bag on the outside.  Depending on the vendor, you may have a lot of color choices and some slower selling colors may be cheaper than faster selling colors.

I think most (if not all) of these bags are made in just a few companies in China, and maybe in Russia.  But the prices in the various stores and outlets vary considerably.  Style A is logically a few more dollars than Style B, but Style A will run from around $15 to $40 -- for the very same style.  Style B may run from $10 to over $20.  So it pays to shop around.  Also, some companies (Alibaba, AliExpress, Banggod) will give you a substantial price break for buying in large quantities.

Last year I was in the market for some kind of luggage for my bolt. OEM saddlebags were too expensive for capacity provided (almost 800€ for 14l of storage) so I went sissybar bag route for what I choose tram21.co.uk bag. I have both the Kuryakyn deadbeat and the Saddleman R850, but what I use most often is a standard back pack with the 13X13 cargo net bungee on my sissy bar. 

Don't get me wrong I love both the Kuryakyn and the Saddleman but for throw and go the cargo net bungee is hard to beat.

Recently I tried this Yamaha Motorcycle Sissy Bar Backpack and this was too good. The bag quality is great and the best thing is it's adjustable and also within budget.
