So I'm in a pickle... I wanted to try out Low and Means exhaust workaround, drilling holes for increased exhausted note and tone... But the hex bolts that hold the cap on are insanely tight?

Did anyone who tried this mod have this issue?  Is there a magic fix to this?

Don't waste your time with the 5 3/8 or 1/2 holes. But a hole saw with an extension and drill out the back of the baffle. Much better result, less work.

Thanks Cemery! That is what I'm going to try then brother... Already scoping out the hole saws.  Which size?  1 1/2" ; 2" ???

1-1/2". Takes about 2min. The hole saw and it extension is about $25 at any hardware type store.

Picked up the Milwaukee brand 12" extender ($10) and the 1 1/2" hole saw ($12) at home depot... Heading outside to do it right now...

Exactly, use a 1 1/2 " hole saw bit with a 10 inch extension.  Sounds good and looks a lot better.  Takes little time to do.

Think I'm going to do it. It doesn't look very good, IMO, but it's sounds awesome, and for now that's fine with me.

Moving some of the older videos down to prevent too much scrolling on the home page.

So I just drilled out the airbox holes.  I am planning on getting the megaphone and fuel controller and self-install next weekend. So I figured I jump start the airbox... It took about fifteen minutes, I drilled six holes on the top case cover and then 5 holes on the rear case, nearest to the tank/v-twin.  I had already done the Low and Mean exhaust DIY plus used a 1 1/2" hole saw to drill out the rear of the baffle, so needless to say, it sounds much more bad ass now.

Nice Boltians... I actually ordered a Cobra air kit the other day that should be coming in next week... I don't like the idea of modifying stock parts which is why I haven't drilled anything at all... Just keeping those parts clean and untouched just in case... Emissions aren't for awhile though lol!

On the other hand, doesn't the fuel controller already take some of the increased flow into account?  Maybe not as good as a new fuel controller would be but it's not like you'd be damaging your engine.  My dealer actually told me that the stock fuel chip would take increased flow into account and automatically adjust to inject more fuel ... So which is it? lol

That is a great question Jbod.  I have been in communication with Chris H from Low and Mean, and I wanted to add the megaphone, and hold off on the controller until I could afford the aftermarket air filter upgrade. But Chris said that the new exhaust, the megaphone, would run the bike way too lean for it to be installed without the Dobeck TFI fuel controller.  So I decided I am going to do the exhaust and fuel controller first, and then a month later Ill plop down the $500 to get the air filter kit with the forward cone scoop and cage, it will look might bad ass IMHO.

Cheers Jbod... it is gonna be sick to see our bikes all tricked out... I know I can't make it to Daytona or Sturgis this year, but maybe next year...

you can try without the fuel controller just keep an eye out on your plugs:

What period of time are we talking about Ace?  What I would like to do is get the megaphone next week and install it.  Then in about a month Ill have all the cash set aside to get both the controller and the airbox mods, so I can install both of those at the same time.  Should I be checking the spark plugs every week? Or if my plan is to add all that after a month it shouldn't be an issue either way...

The spark plug check should be done after about 50 miles.  If you are running too lean or rich you would probably want to revert back any mods that caused the problem (you want to look at your plugs in advance too, maybe take a pic for baseline).  Running lean means you do not have enough fuel for the amount of air you are "intaking" which causes the combustion process to run hot, which can ruin pipes or even worse, valves.  If this is the case you definitely want to change back before damaging your engine.  The stock EFI should compensate to some extent, so you might be OK without the controller.

On the warrior there is a way to "jump" the ECU and manually adjust the bike for lean and rich conditions.  I did this when I first swapped out my pipes....I wouldn't be surprised if this can be done on the bolt too, just a matter of finding which wire to cut and then grounding it.
