Hey all,

Okay, so today, just bought a 2015 Yamaha Bolt R Spec with 4000 miles, and this leads to some issues.

I've watched some YouTubes and what I feel I need to do, after watching them, is this:

First, I want to install a Vance & Hines twin slash staggered exhaust, a fuel mgt system, and a V&H naked air filter system.

Second, I want to replace the headlight with an LED headlight (though I don't plan to drive much at night).

Next, some saddle bags (gotta have something to put groceries in).

I need some handle bars that will facilitate my short arms - the stock are just a bit too reach-demanding for me.

Finally, I'd like a new seat, something a bit more cushy for my almost-60 butt!

So with that said, am I on the right track?
Where do I go to find good, quality seats and handle bars?
What are some good online sites for getting what I've stated above?
Wait! Are there better exhaust systems (that won't break the bank)?

It's all a bit overwhelming, so I'm really needing some guidance here.

Welcome and congrats on the bike.  Saw your other thread, you got the bike for a steal.  Sounds like you're on the right track as far as mods go.  I'd definitely throw gear in there too if you don't already have some.

There are hundreds of threads on everything you mentioned right here on this forum so guarantee you will find everything you need here, just search around for what you're looking for.

Most people here would advise you to research Ivan's flash vs any kind of fuel mgmt system.  I have the V&H staggered but it came w/ my bike when I bought it used.  If I had to buy one on my own I might just go the cheaper route and get a slip on.  Opt7 is a popular LED headlight around here.  Apes are popular bars but there's a ton of different kinds out there so just look around the site to get some ideas.

Revzilla, amazon, tcbros (got my bars and fender from here), cyclegear are some of my go-tos for gear and parts.

Welcome to the forum. The mods you are thinking about are fairly common, and for good reason, your bike will be that much better afterwards. I went the twin slash route and couldn't be happier with them, they look and sound amazing and you get what you pay for. Ivan's flash is the general consensus way to go vs. a fuel controller, thats what I did and was very satisfied with the result. I went with the Mustang Day Tripper seat and it was more comfortable over stock, stock seat took about an hour for me to start feeling it and the Mustang was about double that. Look through the gallery and don't be afraid to send people direct messages to get their opinion or advice on any mods they have done, everyone on here enjoys helping if they can. I would probably ride it the way it is for a bit, if you can, because your opinion of what you want may change after some saddle time and as we all know mods are expensive.

Welcome to the Bolt forum.  Recommend you do a Google search on "Yamaha Bolt R-spec accessories" and you will get most places that sell Yamaha Bolt aftermarket parts and accessories, as well as genuine Yamaha accessories.  Since you have an R-spec. you also have gas shocks that will interfere with large saddlebags, so you should consider progressive shocks or turning your gas shocks around so the gas cylinder is forward.  You will also have to relocate your rear turn signals more rearward and extend the wiring to them.

Great information. Thanks much, folks!

...sigh: relocate turn signals, extend wiring. Welp! I ain't a mechanic, so that's a job for my local guys.

Thanks again!

I recommend the Mustang Day Tripper seat. Tons of customizing options for patterns/colors and I think the style fits our classic/retro bike perfectly.

Also the Koso TNT-B meter is a must have mod in my opinion.

asarm,

Very cool mods and much needed for me. Thanks.

Mods: it's like getting a video game all over and having to mod it to make it better playing. I get it now! I got this!

You're welcome, I have a large debt to this website I want to contribute anywhere I can. I have a suggestion for bags as well:

I like that these can be removed pretty easily. It's nice if you go somewhere and want to take them off the bike and with you into a hotel or campsite something. Or just leave them home. I have pics on my profile of the bags on and off.

Here's a direct link to my review:
