Fender Rack & Bag??
« on: September 07, 2020, 03:05:22 pm »
I do not have rear fender rack or sissy bar or passenger seat, just the stock fender with the 4 holes.

Sooo I got a magnetic tank bag that I pretty much use anytime I go out for a ride.

I have a Shoei backpack that also holds a helmet but Iíve never even used it since I bought it because the tank bag pretty much does what I need it to for the day.

Wanting to begin doing 1-2 day trips and donít see the backpack being the practical solution.

Yamaha OEM fender rack is around $190. Think I saw a knockoff fender rack for $80.

Was hoping I could maybe keep the backpack and install it to fender rack but thatís not practical/safe.

Almost was wondering if thereís an easily detachable rack/sissy bar for when I do decide on the day trips and could strap backpack on or get a bag for that, but donít believe that exists.

So I guess Iím looking for a rear fender rack with recommended bags that strap securely on to it.

P.S. If anyone wants a brand new Shoei 2.0 backpack never used. PM me we can talk if I find a rack+bag solution here.

You can probably make your own design out of 1/8 " thick 6061 aluminum alloy plate for around $25 or less.  Its quite strong material.  The supplier may even cut slots in it for a couple of bucks, or even for free.  The big issue might be whether you want it curved to match the fender, or straight.  To curve it is harder than you might think if you don't have bending tools.  You can mount it on rubber stoppers (corks) available at Lowes hardware.  You can even price out stainless steel plate.  Here is where I shop for such materials:
