LED front turn signals?
« on: April 11, 2020, 05:43:55 pm »
After doing some research on the forum on LED front turn signals, I've came to the conclusion that the Custom Dynamic's "Dynamic Ringz" lights were for me. They appeared to be plug and play with the stock turn signal housing and they are bright white halo rings with an amber center for signaling.

I reached out to Custom Dynamics to see if they had the LEDs still in stock (part# GEN180-AW-BAZ-YS), but unfortunately they are discontinued.

Does anyone have or know about a similar LED turn signal for the Bolt as the one stated above? Thanks

Nah all I did was use dual LED bulbs for the front and installed LED resistors.
For the rear I used CANBUS LED bulbs as well

I just finished this project, and received the same unfortunate reply... the plug and play clusters are discontinued. I was able to get a workaround that requires some tinkering and modifying but it works and I love the result.

I bought these:

The stiff backing the cluster is mounted to (NOT the circuit board itself) must be trimmed down to fit in the stock signal housing. I used a dremel around the edge until it just barely fit. Took probably 50% off the outer visible edge of the backing. I also dremeled a SLIGHT bit off each circuit board at the screw hole because it just barely wouldn't fit. I do not recommend this unless absolutely necessary because I killed half of one of the clusters in the process, was able to fix it with solder. Seriously even a couple mm into the edge of the board can potentially kill LEDs as I did in one location so be very very careful if you touch the board, you may not be as lucky as I was in fixing it. In addition inside the signal housing I removed the silver metallic tab, because it interfered with the LED circuit board for a clean fit.

If you don't already have an LED signal stabilizer. Do yourself a favor and get something like this instead of the Custom Dynamics version. Save yourself $60:

Follow this method to install it, very easy:

I have a run/turn/brake strip led for the rear from Radiantz.  They also sell led strips in various lengths in red or amber that I plan on using for the front signals.  I have another place to pickup stock connectors.  A little bit of soldering work, an LED signal relay & you're set.
