Twisted Road
« on: December 14, 2017, 04:47:51 pm »
So this came up in another post where I asked about Bolt rentals in TX, but I figure most people didn't read that since most people aren't looking to rent a bolt in TX.
Lunkhead (thank you man!) posted a link to a service I'd never heard of called www.twistedroad.com where you can enter a location and see bikes from other owners available for rent in an area you are going.   I read all the fine print and the owner was even cool enough to call me on the phone and explain some stuff when I emailed with questions.
Just wanted to post it here on its own post in case others have interest either in renting other bikes or renting out their own.  The website has a comprehensive FAQ that talks about protecting your bike, etc.
Also, when you sign up you'll get your own promo code.  You can give that to friends or get one from a friend and you both get a $25 referral credit.  My code is LXIMY if anyone wants to snag the credit on theirs and I certainly wouldn't mind the return... BUT if Lunkhead wants to post a code, I suggest using his because I wouldn't have even known about this site if not for him.
Really impressed with what I've seen so far.
The selfish reason I'm posting is because I think it would be cool if there were Bolts to rent in all the places I have to go for work.
Oh yeah, and still climbing that junior member ladder.

Interesting. I don't love the idea of someone else using my bike but I could pay off my loan pretty quickly with this or buy lots of upgrades. :) I might have to look into this when riding season starts up again.

I looked at the site, and there ARE a few Bolts for rent around the country.

It would be nice if they at least told you WHICH bikes were available in any area BEFORE you put in your dates.  Might be able to plan your trip around dates that the bike you want is available!
NOBODY hates winter more than a Canadian Biker!

So I ended up renting a Bolt through Twisted Road.  The owner of the Bolt I rented is actually on this forum and used to be an active member but hasn't posted in awhile.  His bike was awesome.  He had some mods I've considered (intake and slip on mainly) so it was fun getting to ride his much louder Bolt.

As far as Twisted Road goes - awesome experience.  Everything from the owner of the company making sure everything went smooth (even texted after I was due to pick up the bike to see how things were going) to the owner of the bike who was just incredibly freaking cool. I think it would be fun to use the site to try out all kinds of different bikes.

Excellent to know - good feedback.  Definitely considering this option over Eagle Rider.

I have my bolt listed on twisted road (my other business has a couple listed but not bolts) so far had one rental. went really smooth. made a little money . i think charged the renter a bit to cover costs and may of even put a hold on the credit card he used while he had the bike .  I don't think i would consider putting any of my vintage bikes on there though. and twisted road answered any questions/concerns i had quickly.
