Revomve rear seat
« on: February 01, 2016, 04:09:41 pm »
I'm thinking about removing the rear seat, but doesn't this leave whole in the rear fender? or Am I missing something?
Thanks

you use the screws that hold the seat in to plug the holes

And there are 4 of them!!!  Not the cleanest look.  There are some other options you can do.  I got the mustang day tripper which has a cool look to it, and allows for a passenger.  There are "bibs" too, if you like that look.  There's the stiletto seat, not sure if that covers all the screws either though.

You could put a decal / art over the screws. Some cool design. Shane put some cool art on his tank. Might ask him where to get stuff like that?  ;)

What kind of seat ya got? Is it the suede with cream stitching or the shiny leather? Would you wanna sell it?

No, it comes stock without it. The only way you could've purchased it with a passenger seat on it is if the dealership did some mods and added it or if you bought it used and the previous owner added it. That way Yamaha can charge more for each individual part. This is the first bike I've owned that didn't come with one stock. This is why I'm trying to purchase one from someone who doesn't want theirs anymore, cheaper that way.

Depends where you are from. In OZ they come with passenger (pillion) seat & pegs.

Yamaha obviously think US riders don't have any friends  ;D

You also have the fender rack option. Yamaha,MC Enterprises and Hepco and Becker all offer racks that utilize the seat mount holes.
