I don't understand why we can't just change the glass on our 2014 BOLT
speedos to clear glass from the 2015 speedo.  It's ridiculous when you can't even read your information on that thing when the sun is wrong.  Can't they come out with some kind of retro-fit kit or something, what's wrong with those Yamaha engineers?  They design a helluva nice motorcycle but they can even fix a crappy speedo design...Okay rant is over!  but please humor me or something. :'(

Didn't you know Japan is known as 'The Land of the Rising sun'?

Obviously it never rises enough over there for the  speedo to be a problem! ;D

I'm with you BOLT 3. I hate to look down and see nothing but black! You can't even tell if the fuel light is on. Nothing worse than riding on what may soon be an empty tank with no manual reserve. I built a bracket to change the angle hoping to keep the sun off. But due to the polarized filter it just made it worse and I had to put it back to stock. Maybe I'll try putting a tall tube around it so it's always in the shade. Won't that look great  ::)

You may already know this, but it helped me with this issue.  I switched to non-polarized sunglasses and the condition improved.  Not completely fixed, but much better.  If you are seeing total black that's bad.  I know from photography if you take two polarized filters and stack them you can rotate one and it'll eventually prevent any light from coming through.  Could be what is causing you to see "nothing but black".  Too bad they didn't just go with a nice/simple analog speedo.

I wish sunglasses were the issue. I've tried polarized, Blu blocker and none at all. When the sun is in the right spot it's just black.

Not sure why this has been made into such a big deal, I've never had an issue seeing my speedo cluster and it's almost always sunny here in NV...

Hahaha it was still the same. The only thing I can think of making a difference is the direction of the polarization in sunglasses. I've had pairs that block certain things, but clear up if you rotate your head

I live in the sunny bits and I HATE  >:( this friggin speedo. I can only see it heading East in the morning and west in the evening lol. Honestly it's a safety hazard that I think Yamaha should fix for us.

 Has anyone gotten anywhere with the complaint thingy everyone was signing?
