I'm a little concerned about all these people saying you can just eliminate a fuel controller with Ivan's flash.  Ivan can correct me if I am wrong, but the ECU flash fixes the inherent problems with the fueling on the bike, but doesn't make it magically adjust your fueling for whatever aftermarket intake and exhaust you might add.   I plan on keeping my PCV installed with Ivan's flash in the near future and using his custom map for my setup.

That will also work. You probably will get that extra 10% that Ivan mentions. I can say that my (VH slip on, Kury Velo A/C) bike runs great now with just Ivan's ECU work. I am happy as a PinS with that 90%!

To oversimplify... Ivan's flash is all you need, PERIOD.  His standard reprogramming eliminates the risk of running lean with hi-performance exhaust and intake.  If you want to dial things in to the next level, you can fine tune it with your fuel controller.  FWIW, I've had Ivan's ECU flash for about 6 months (no fuel controller) and I'm still pleasantly shocked how well the bike performs.

Ivan can correct me if I'm wrong, but the "standard" mapping runs rich enough to compensate for an exhaust and intake.  With one or the other, you're probably running leaner than you need to - still, you'd be much better off with it than stock.

Just my 2 cents.

To follow up. I sent my ECU to Ivan, when we spoke on the phone I specifically asked about the bike running lean ( I have just installed Vance and Hines Twin Slash and Vo2 Air Intake).
Ivan assured me that with his re-flash the bike will not run lean, it will run richer and cooler than stock.
Anxiously awaiting for the FedEx Truck...

Bubble wrap is best. ..I have received ecus with damaged connectors from poor packaging.

Always include the form from my website.

Insure it for $500.

Thanks,

Ivan

Hi
Something is no clear to me about the ECU flash.
Ivan do you perform different "flash" depending on the exhaust and air intake or there is only ONE flash for all?

For example you re-flashed the ECU knowing the bike got VH twin and VH V02, can I put back the stock exhaust and stock air filter (for whatever reason) and ride with the Flashed ECU?

Thank you for your time

one flash for any combination including stock. The flash helps a stock bike, adding exhaust and intake with the flash just adds to it. To get every last bit out of it that you can you'd have to get a fuel controller and modify things to you actual set up.

His one and only flash is the number one best money spent on my bolt.

Thank you for your input!

(I sent my ECU this morning) but will probably have it before the aftermarket exhaust so I can put back the ECU with stock exhaust and it will be fine.

there is something I don't understand.
let's say you have a stock bike, you change the air intake so the bike going to be lean because you change the mix gas/air.
you have a stock bike with the ECU re-flashed it worst great.
and then you change the air intake and still work fine?
add an exhaust and still work fine...
I don't get that once your ECU is re-flashed whatever the configuration everything is going to be perfect...

It's magic, voodoo science, global warming? I would say Ivan's work removes restrictions inherent in the stock ECU that allow the Bolt to run properly in stock, mild, or wild form. A good read is his website that lists those particular areas of modification.

Thank you all of you!

Now that I know about the Voodoo Science I feel way more comfortable ....
Can't for my next Voodoo ride now.

When the factory programs the ECU to control the Fuel Injection system - it puts a limit on how much fuel it can spray into the engine. When you add more air - it WANTS more fuel so it can burn it properly (approximately a 14-1 ratio of air to fuel). Unfortunately, the factory limits will not allow that much fuel. This causes a very lean situation in the engine - which makes the engine run very hot, and can cause damage such as melted pistons, etc.

A Fuel Controller helps a lot, but doesn't solve a lot of the other problems (popping when you let off the throttle, etc). Ivan's flash DOES solve all the other problems, too.
