Title: Yamaha Bolt ape hangers
Post by: MNBud on June 23, 2013, 12:38:44 am
I'm actually riding a demo bolt for the weekend while I wait for mine to be delivered this coming Tuesday.I negotiated a set of tall apes plus installation into my deal but I can't seem to find any pictures of a Bolt with these installed. Are these even avaliable yet.Had apes on the 1100 V-star I traded in and don't want to be without them, but I'm a little nervous about how they will look on this bike.Any thoughts or pictures would be appreciated.

This is the only pic Ive seen so far. They seem more like mini apes.

Thanks for the reply, that gives me a pretty good idea as to what I'm looking forward to. The parts department(at my dealer ) is still a little confused as to parts for this bike. They say there may be two different ape hangers, I'll wait and see what they come up with.

Dont forget it is not just the tall bars you need, you will need all new extended cables, and then the install on those is a few hours given the fluids and bleeding etc. Install at a shop won't be less than $200 probably... So in all the bars, cables, install, that will probably be a $400-500 job... fyi...

You are correct, I didn't mention in my original post, my deal includes the extended accelerator cables, clutch cable, and brake lines, all in the stainless braided. This shop bent over backwards to get me on this bike. The 1100 CC V-star I traded in was spotless and  had 86,000 miles on it, and I had them convinced that I will be a great moving billboard for the Bolt. They also have agreed to exchange the Kuriakan mirrors I had on the V-Star with the stock mirrors when my bike arrives. I had given away one of the stock mirrors, or I would have swapped them out myself before the trade-in.

Yamaha refuses to supply my dealer in Texas with the bars we'd have to ride to OK

It is so odd that motorcycle laws are so varied in the states... States' rights still trumps federalism in a few areas... ;)

They're technically illegal in Missouri too lol but you see guys riding with gigantic apes so obviously cops don't really care

Just buy them online from ebay when they become available

No doubt there will be plenty of online places to buy them when they are around, I doubt that I will even want them. It's more of the principle.  It's just surprising the yellow tape involved (or in this case yellow tech exchange), dealers can't even supply them for "show purposes only" with a wink especially with all the apes running around the state currently
